Stand With Us
Stand With Us
By Davy Ellison
I’m delighted to share with you that 2025 witnessed the completion of the Ten Year Vision—two years ahead of schedule—with 70 Irish Baptist College graduates entering gospel service since 2017. The College continues providing our churches and mission with pastors and missionaries. It is a joy seeing graduates enter full time service in different contexts. We look forward to our 2026 graduates doing likewise.
Unfortunately, 2025 was also a challenging year. The College felt this acutely with the closure of Spurgeon’s College, London in July. Spurgeon’s College validated the Irish Baptist College’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This change in circumstance caused significant disruption and added financial burden, increasing the budgeted deficit by £20,000.
A further complication with the Spurgeon’s upheaval was a temporary pause on recruitment during the month of August. Student numbers therefore remain lower than anticipated and desired.
I am therefore asking you to stand with the Irish Baptist College as we approach the end of our financial year. First, I would ask you to pray. Above all we need the Lord of the harvest to raise up workers for the harvest and the way he desires this to happen is through his people’s prayers (Matt. 9:37–38). Second, I would ask you to give. Please consider giving to us in at least one of the following ways:
- One Off Gift – It would be a great blessing if the College could at least eliminate the additional £20,000 cost incurred by the closure of Spurgeon’s College. A one-off gift of any amount will go towards closing the gap in our finances. But more than this, it keeps us training the next wave of pastors and missionaries.
- Gospel Guardians Giving – One way to support the ongoing training of men and women for Christian service in the church and mission field is by giving a small amount regularly. Consider signing up as a Gospel Guardian. This can be done as an individual or as a collective (e.g., Church, Home Group, Men’s Group). Regular giving allows us to keep fees affordable for students.
- Legacy – Do you have a will? If so, are you leaving something behind for gospel purposes? Perhaps you might consider leaving a legacy to the Irish Baptist College and investing in the future proclamation of the gospel. Find out more here.
I know that many of you already give sacrificially. Thank you for your support and your cheerful giving. We pray that the Lord might bless you in your generosity.
We are confident that every single penny and cent given to the College magnifies Christ, advances the gospel, and strengthens the church by guarding the gospel through ministry training.
